CSUSB can survey students when they register for a subsequent term. Instead of the standard survey methodology where a sample of students receive all questions, in this approach, all students are asked a small sample of from one to four questions. Given a list of students eligible to register, the questions may be targeted by known demographic characteristics. Similarly, because most student demographics characteristics can be linked to the question responses, they need not be asked as part of the survey but can be part of the subsequent analysis. The following Acrobat PDF files summarize the results of our registration surveys. The Spring 2000 Survey includes a more detailed description of the survey methodology and features questions on student advising, validation of official major and major changes, and 20 questions drawn from the National Survey of Student Engagement. The Fall 2000 Survey addressed student degree plans, e-mail utilization, internet access for web-based classes, interest in week-end classes; and interest in classes at 7 different off-campus communities. The Fall 2001 Survey asked a series of questions on computer and technology access and use. The Winter 2002 Survey asked questions related to the CSUSB Strategic Plan, the level of student participation in out-of-class activities and what the University could do to increase participation rates, student study time and academic challenge, academic support, campus diversity, social support and quality of relations with other students, faculty and staff, and technology questions covering on-line courses and future computer lab upgrades. The Spring 2002 simply asked all registering students Do you have the interest in and the ability to participate in intercollegiate athletics? |
